Welcome to England’s largest festival of history and culture! It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore.
The former Foundlings will tell us of the strict discipline and regimented life and the strict segregation of the boys from the girls. Little was known by the people of Berkhamsted about the children and why they were there, isolated from the town, an isolation which became more severe in the days of WWII. The hospital, now Ashlyns School, was purpose built to replace the London Hospital and to give the children the benefit of country air.
