In October half term, 54 Bovingdon Dance Academy students and their families will be headed to Disneyland Paris to perform on the Park’s Videopolis Stage in front of an international audience.
Preparations for this opportunity began last November as they prepared to audition. This involved the video submission of two group dance routines that would meet the high standards that the Disney Performing Arts programme set.
Audition tapes were submitted in January and after a 6 week wait, BDA found out they had been successful!
The BDA teachers kept the news a secret for a week whilst they ordered personalised t-shirts and congratulation cards to mark the achievement.
To deliver the news, the students were asked to attend an extra class on Friday night with the rouse that the audition dances needed to be filmed again and a squad photo was required (See attached). Approximately 30 seconds into the dance routine, the track cut to an announcement that informed them of their incredible success. The dance studio was filled with shock, shrieks, excitement and a few tears from their parents.
The ‘Disney Squad’ are now busy rehearsing every weekend as they prepare for their performance at Disneyland Paris by learning 7 routines choreographed by BDA teachers, Nikki Stewart and Karen Tower. Every week, this squad bring energy and determination as they work towards this incredible opportunity.
