On Sunday 5 May a very joyous Jubilee Eucharist, with the Lord Bishop of St Albans, was attended by a full congregation and many former vicars and ministers, and the Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr William Allen with his wife Annie. It was delightful to see the return of so many people who have helped to shape St John’s in the last 30 years or so, but we remembered those who went before and those who were unable to be with us on the day. It was a celebration of who we are as a Church, how we worship, and how we love and pray for one another, and for this community.
The celebrations continue, with the Jubilee Exhibition, from 27 – 30 June. St John’s has hosted the milestone events in the lives of so many Boxmoor people during its history. Our exhibition aims to chart the first 150 years of the life of the current building, using flower arrangements created by our very talented arrangers, photographs, parish registers and stories, through Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals (Hatching, Matching and Dispatching).
If you, or a family member were married or baptised at St John’s, and would like to contribute, please send any pictures to SJB150@stjohnsboxmoor.org.uk or leave them in the Office. They will be copied and become part of a digital display to be shown during the Exhibition.
Please do come along and enjoy the insight into the life of St John’s and a bit of Boxmoor history!
Refreshments will be served throughout the Exhibition.
