A great while ago the world begun,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
But that’s all one, our play is done,
And we’ll strive to please you every day
Wm. Shakespeare, (1564-1616)
So that was November – wind, rain and storm, but we did, and we do, strive to please.
Last month’s activities included a performance for Alexandra Care Home, when 15 of us braved high winds to sing with them. Caroline, our chair, said: ‘What our audience lacked in numbers, it made up for in enthusiasm, with the staff too joining in with gusto. A very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.’
We held our annual Quiz Night on10th November. A fun evening arranged by Di Stevens, with help from husband Bill, and Trish Fitzgibbons. The balance of questions ranging from the relatively easy to those needing some pretty esoteric knowledge, meant that everyone felt involved. Thanks to a good attendance from members and friends we raised £479 for the choir’s Singing in the Community Fund, plus £224 from the raffle for the Kings Langley, Apsley and Bennetts End Food Bank.
So, what will December bring?
Our members love singing in the community and we have 3 carol singing events already in the diary. You’ll find us in the Marlowes singing in aid of the British Heart foundation from 2.30pm on Saturday 9th December and in the evening on Monday 18th December between 5 and 7pm we’ll be at Berkhamsted Station supporting Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
We also have a performance booked for Age Uk on the 13th at the Centre in the Park.
That brings us inevitably, to Christmas and our concert, see our flier below. We welcome friends, old and new, to join us in the beautiful church of St John’s in Boxmoor. For further information or to book a ticket, call Sally on 07402 181182
