It was a real honour to join with so many local people at the tree blessing and official opening of the new Covid-19 Memorial Garden in Gadebridge Park.
Dacorum Borough Council has done a great job on the Memorial Garden that sits around the spectacular copper beech tree that is a stunning focal point.
The project was initiated by local resident and Carers in Hertfordshire ambassador Margaret Sharp.
The tree was provided at cost by Majestic Trees in Flamstead and paid for by money donated by local businesses and residents.
I am delighted with the result. The new garden is a tranquil place for people to reflect on the impact that Covid-19 has had on all of our lives and, in particular, to remember those that we have lost.
The garden is bounded by four wooden benches and wildflower planting.
One of the benches in the garden is dedicated to Dacorum resident and long-time campaigner and a good friend Betty Harris, and it was great to meet so many of her family attended the event.
There is no doubt that this is a very positive addition to the town’s premier park.
