We are a friendly group whose relaxed ‘get- togethers’ provide opportunities to chat and mull over a wide range of topics of shared interest.
The Society was founded in 1969 at the instigation of Rev Arthur Llewelyn Jones, then Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Potten End. In its early years the Society’s membership was drawn mainly from Welsh folk that had settled in this area during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Members get together to share their interest in the Welsh culture and language, and anyone interested in Wales and things Welsh is welcome to join.
We meet at intervals throughout the year – often for lunch at a local hostelry and usually a Wednesday. Our main annual events are a Christmas Lunch, a Saint David’s Festival Dinner Dance and a Coach Holiday, usually to Wales. From time to time, we invite speakers to give afternoon talks on current topics, which are informative and often amusing. A few of our members speak Welsh. If you want some practice there’s the option, but all meetings are held locally in English.
Membership is extended to all, regardless of where their roots lie. Please come and join us. For further information contact us:
