The Box Moor Trust’s Lambing event on 2nd and 3rd April proved very popular, with hundreds of families coming to spend an hour or two at the farm over the course of the two days.
Despite the drop in temperatures just in time for the weekend (there were even a couple of brief snow showers on the Saturday) the chance to come and cuddle a new-born baby lamb proved too good an opportunity to miss! Other attractions for youngsters included craft activities and a ‘lambing trail’ quiz. A mini tractor parked in the middle of the paddock was a great draw, with children queuing for the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat and have a photo taken.
The refreshment stalls did brisk trade, with hot chocolate and coffee being the order of the day to warm everyone up. The event was supported by Gin & Fizz, Scoops Italian Gelato, Really Awesome Coffee and Chaulden Primary School PTA, who ran a popular snack & sweet stall. Despite parking being a challenge due to limited space, everyone was good-natured and understanding about maybe having a bit of a walk. Although the event was free to attend, a significant number of visitors kindly made donations, raising several hundred pounds towards the charitable work of the Box Moor Trust. Trustees would like to take the opportunity to thank all those people for their generosity.
