After the Covid restrictions were lifted in mid 2021, we were able to go ahead with our events programme, offering Cream Teas, Pub Lunches, Picnics, visits to a Garden centre, and Canal boat trips.
Our overriding purpose has been to improve our neighbour’s mental health, by bringing back some normality into their lives, with conversation in a relaxing setting.
Our last event of the year at The Three Blackbirds, captured the festive spirit, with Dean our wonderful entertainer and a source of great inspiration, works for the Great Ormond St Hospital, and on behalf of all our neighbours a donation was handed to Dean, by Spencer Bunce.
We all faced a challenging holiday season with so many relatives and friends testing positive for the omicron variant. For some of our Neighbours it was a particularly lonely time, especially for those whose relatives live some distance away and those living alone, with no close family.
Our Volunteers stepped up to ensure those handful of Neighbours who were alone over the holiday season had a visit on Christmas Day – they stayed for a chat over a cake and raised a glass of sherry, ensuring all our Neighbours saw a friendly face over Christmas and that someone was thinking of them.
If you are elderly or know of someone who may need our help, please get in touch or pass on this information to them, so they can contact the Duty Officer at Boxmoor Good Neighbours on 07713 358931
