This year’s summer cream tea event was held in the garden of the Chair of Boxmoor Good Neighbours, Spencer Bunce. The cream tea was prepared by Box-moor Coffee and Wine, with the addition of fresh strawberries and raspberries and cake baked by BGN volunteers. Also on hand were volunteers to provide table service to the twelve neighbours attending, who had the unusual experience of being bathed in sunshine!
The invited speaker chosen to close proceedings was one of its own neighbours, Robert Hoare, a former student who graduated from the conservatoire of music at the Royal Academy of Music, who became blind at an early age, but this did not prevent him from becoming an accomplished musician. Robert talked about the “Power of Music” which was entirely appropriate, as this year is the 150 anniversary of the Henry Wood Promenade concerts.
These outdoor events which Boxmoor Good Neighbours have organised over the Summer, have proved to be both extremely popular and enjoyable, which I hope these pictures of our most recent event, convey.
